Benchmarks

Challenge 21 uses four key benchmarks to track economic development programs outcomes: Median Household Income, Civilian Employment, Single-Family Residential Building Permits, and Commercial Industrial Building Construction. The charts below highlight these benchmarks:

Median Household Income    
Median Household Income  

Median household income (MHI) rose to 67,285 in 2008, an increase of $10,201 for benchmark period. The benchmark goal was an MHI increase of $7,660.

Civilian Employment    
Employment  

Civilian employment grew to 58,821 during the 2004 - 2008 period. The net job increase of 6,156 represents 93 percent of the benchmark goal.

Single-Family Residential Building Permits   Top of Page
Residential Permits   In 2008, 333 single-family building permits were issued, bringing the total for period 2005-2008 to 3,700. The benchmark goal was 3,075.
Permitted Sq. Ft. Commercial/Industrial    
Square Foot   Permitted square footage for new commercial/industrial buildings totaled 6.546 million square feet for the 2005-2008 time frame. The goal for this period was 7.3 million square feet.
