Leo
Nelson President Leo’s responsibilities as President include meeting goals and objectives set by the Chamber Board and the Executive Committee, as well as providing effective leadership, management and support of committees of Chamber and Challenge 21 volunteers and the Chamber staff. Leo regularly communicates with a network of local, regional and national contacts to create partnerships of trust that work on behalf of the Elgin Area business community. Our members find him highly skilled at opening doors that appeared blocked and marvel at ability to make things happen. Building and expanding upon his faith in partnerships, Leo enhanced the Chamber's economic development program by expanding his model of partnership into it with the introduction of Challenge 21. Challenge 21 is multi award-winning public/private partnership that has successfully partnered with over 100 investors and volunteers on behalf of expanding our economic development efforts. Terry
Gajewski Terry is responsible for overseeing all of the organization’s financial transactions, including, accounts receivables, accounts payables, monthly financial statements, yearly audits, purchasing, etc. She provides overall coordination and management of office activities, supervises and directs the office support staff. Terry also has responsibility over office and communication resources, information systems, including maintaining and upgraded the organization’s computer systems and software processes, coordinating and maintaining the development of the Chamber's e-newsletter and web site, making the latter a leader in all world-wide search engines and one of the top benefits of membership. The site is featured in a national best practice book on search engine visibility. Today, the Chamber's web site is visited by 1,800 users a day, with most visiting our member posting within the Business Search. Carol Gieske A longtime community organizer serving as President of the Provena Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation and UnitedWay of Elgin, Carol has raised more than $44 million for the greater Elgin area. Her vast knowledge of the community is beneficial to Chamber members and she is available to assist you in your marketing, promotional and communications needs. Sponsoring an event is a visible and rewarding way to promote your company and to support the programs and mission of the Chamber and Carol is ready to assist members in available opportunities. Bob manages the overall development process required to seek new investors for our award winning Challenge 21 economic development program. Challenge 21 is a dynamic economic development
public/private partnership spearheaded by the Elgin Area Chamber. To maintain ongoing communications with current and potential investors, he is the editor of the monthly Challenge 21 newsletter as well as the Challenge 21 blog. Jeanette is responsible for all aspects of membership programs for the Chamber. Her duties include new member recruitment and member retention, coordinating membership drives, hosting new member receptions, coordinating ribbon cuttings/grand openings, assisting with Business After Hours and advertising opportunities (on this web site, e-newsletters, or in the printed version of our newsletter), certificates of origin, and other services the Chamber offers. Jeanette serves as the staff liaison for the Ambassadors Club, Membership Council, our referral groups (E.A.R.N), the Membership Retention Committee, Latino outreach and coordinator our two highly successful expos and our monthly Chamber coffees. Tindle Pat serves as the staff liaison and maintains administrative responsibility for new member and member services that include assisting those joining the Chamber, new membership packets, maintaining membership files for the printed and web site membership directory, and managing the member literature display unit in our lobby. If you're a member,
connect with Pat to update your firm's company or contact information or to get your literature on our display unit or if you need copies of invoices or statements. If you're not a member, contact Pat to learn about the many benefits of joining. Catherine Smith Catherine is responsible for receptionist/front office support, greeting visitors, processing incoming and outgoing mail and responding to requests for community information. She provides administrative support for Challenge 21 Committees, Board of Directors and the Executive Committee by preparing meeting related documentation. Catherine is also your first point of contact when making a reservation for any of our special events.
